Johnson Lifts with a comprehensive product range in Lifts and escalators has had exponential growth in the last 10 years. They have provided infrastructure to public service projects pan India and have done 12 Metro Projects, 27 Airports and over 800 + Lifts in Railway Stations.
Despite Multi-Nationals having entered the Indian market, Johnson Lifts continues to be No.1 in India and is manufacturing over 12000 units annually. “There has been a significant growth in the opportunities available owing to the major urban infrastructure development programs. Mr. Albert Dhiraviyam, further added that “Johnson Lifts continues to be No. 1, despite multinational players in the market, owing to their established strong After Sales Service Network, Service Practices, Quick Response and capability in large Project Management.” The timely launch of new technology, customer centric models with competitive pricing, ensuring Value for Money with committed deliverables has been an added advantage.
Apart from their presence in 6 overseas countries, Nepal, Srilanka, Tanzania, Dubai, Bhutan and Myanmar, their coverage in India is through 54 branches with a 10,000 strong employee base. “In 2009, JLPL clocked a Sales Turnover of Rs. 419 crores with 5200 units and in 2019 we have crossed Rs. 2000 crores with 12000+ units being delivered, thereby ensuring over 22% market share. ” said Mr. Albert Dhiraviyam.
New Factory
From two factories in 2009, Johnson Lifts has expanded to four factories in 2019 with a combined facility output of 16000 Lifts per annum. “Foreseeing the growth in Lift requirements and the need for Heavy Duty Escalators, a new integrated, fully automated lift factory is now ready for production at a 1.4 lakh sqm facility at Sengadu, T.N. This factory will be able to produce an additional 6000 Lifts per annum. Also, an additional line for Heavy Duty Escalators has been installed at the factory in Oragadam, T.N. This new line will be able to produce 600 Escalators per annum” said Mr. Albert Dhiraviyam.
Indian Metro, Railways and Airport
The Central Government schemes for major Urban Infra Structure Development programmes in India like Metro Rail Projects, UDAN – Regional Airport development and regional connectivity scheme, and the modernization of Airports, Railways Stations, Bus Terminals and Foot Over Bridges at important junctions has given rise to a great opportunity for heavy duty escalators and lifts used in Mass Transportation systems across the country.
“The Metro Rail and the Railways have awarded us the contracts worth Rs.673 crs. to manufacture and install 828 Escalators and 365 Lifts for stations in Mumbai, Kolkatta and Bangalore. For the upcoming inter terminal Airport project in Chennai, we are to install 50 escalators, 41 lifts and 12 moving walks” said Mr. Albert Dhiraviyam.
Nagpur Factory and Order Book
With over 725 people working in the Nagpur office and factory, Johnson’s has installed close to 3000 Lifts and Escalators in an around Nagpur. With the installed capacity of manufacturing 5400 units per year at the Nagpur factory, in 2018-19, 4458 units were manufactured and in 2019-20 it is expected to close at 4800 units.
“Currently, Johnson Lifts is executing the biggest Vertical Transport project at Nagpur providing 104 lifts at AIIMS costing Rs 21.42 Crores. The company has also completed installing 71 lifts for CPWD and PWD Departments totalling to a value of Rs 11.72 Crores” said Mr.Sudhir .S. Ghike – Regional Manager, Nagpur.
He further added “This year in Maharashtra alone between the Railways and the various Metros, Johnson Lifts has bagged orders to install 467 escalators and 318 lifts across various stations in Maharastra at a cost of 399.70 Crs”
“The company has now introduced a mobile service van to provide spare parts to the lifts which Breakdown so as to save time of a technician coming to the office stores. It also has a real time smart phone service thereby rendering timely quality service to customers.” said, Mr.Sudhir.S.Ghike.
With increase in market demand for Lifts in Central, Western and Northern Region , the Nagpur factory would increase its capacity by 20% in the next two years.
Johnson Lifts currently holds a market share of 40% in Nagpur and 20% in Maharashtra.
Some of the work executed in Nagpur includes Empress mall, Pantaloons Mall, Central Mall, Vidarbha infotech – IT park, All four Big Bazaar of Nagpur, Medetrina Hospital, Care Hospital, Viveka Hospital, National Cancer Hospital, Kingsway Hospital, Team Universal, Mahindra Bloomdale, Shapoorji Polanj and NCHRI.
